Use 2D barcode to create surgical pathology reports As many Pathology departments have eliminated professional transcription service, pathologists inevitably undertake the diagnostic data entry (DDE) task which they are not professionally trained for. A recent study has shown that pathologists spend at least 25% of their diagnostic service time on DDE to the pathology report in the laboratory information system. Utilization of 2D barcode technology to create surgical pathology reports is a novel application of the well established technology.
