• Describe the types of tissue (mucus, soft tissue, bone, cartilage) and their features (color, hemorrhage, necrosis).
• Identify any polypoid soft tissue fragments and bivalve these, cutting longitudinally through the stalk/resection end if identifiable.

• Entirely submit soft tissue, especially polyps.
• Representatively submit cartilage in the same cassette as soft tissue, unless calcified.
• Representatively submit calcified cartilage and bone for decalcification, in a separate cassette.
